An eighteen-week groundworks plot with no mains supply and no room for a generator compound. We ran the welfare units, CCTV and site lighting off a fence-mounted array from the first morning.
The plot had no supply and no realistic route to one. A temporary connection had been quoted at several weeks' lead time for a job that was only due to run eighteen, so the contractor had budgeted for a diesel generator and the fuel deliveries that come with it.
Two things ruled that out. The compound was tight enough that a generator would have eaten space needed for plant movement, and the site backed onto houses, with conditions on the permission limiting noise outside working hours. The CCTV and security lighting needed to run overnight regardless.

Eight panels along the southern run of hoarding, clear of the gate and the plant route, with the battery and inverter in a lockable housing beside the welfare cabins. Because the panels sat on the fence line, the compound floor stayed exactly as it was.
The system carried the site for the full eighteen weeks without a shortfall. Through a flat spell in February the batteries dropped lower than we'd have liked, so we moved two panels further along the hoarding to clear the shadow line from a neighbouring building, and it held from there.
No fuel bought, no deliveries booked, no spill kit needed, and no complaints from the houses backing onto the plot. At the end of the job the array came off the fence in an afternoon and the compound was handed back as found.
